![]() ![]() I installed the latest drivers from the RaLink for this card website (this adapter uses the Ralink chipset). well, you might if it's 802.I have a ZONET ZEW 2500 P USB wireless adapter that I am using on my new Windows 7 64 bit desktop. you will not see any performance increases by using a pci-e card over a pci card. This one is neat cause it's a pci-express x1 card. you could even throw in some amplifiers if you have to use a lot of cabling. some are just the mini-pci adapters which means you can do whatever you want with it- your own adapter/cabling/antenna, etc. most of them are sh|t because the antenna is just sticking out the back of your desktop (which produces a lot of EMI). ![]() Pci cards that plug into your normal pci slot on a atx motherboard can be really awesome, depending on what you get. they might work better if you were to use a usb extension cable though. they usually have the smallest antennas and it's easy for them to be influenced by other electromagnetic interference. you have your usb dongles which look just like jump drives and can be handy if you need something for short range. i like them because you can attach your own antennas.Īnd there's also different kinds of usb-connected devices. Is it for a laptop or a desktop computer? the coolest i've seen was a a/b/g/n mini pci card, though i don't know if it is for a laptop or not. What should I get? What are the advantages of each over the other?
